Position Description
- Manage the designated regional Credit Risk Portfolio within acceptable quality and loss criteria
- Approve credit risk exposure relating to the client base within authorized limits.
- Responsible for the accurate, timely and consistent assignment of Risk Ratings for all Clients and Collateral
- Ensure all credit exposure structured, documented and approved in accordance with JPMorgan Credit Policy
- Monitor all Exception Reports produced by Credit Middle Office, work with integrated team to understand issues, approve resolution plans and escalate potential problems immediately
- Identify names promptly to be added to the Watch List or Criticized and Classified loans
- Work closely with all other Control Functions and understand the potential impact on the credit portfolio of other types of risk – eg Market, Liquidity, Operating, Reputation, etc.
- Establish contacts with other LOB credit teams.
- Identify and escalate gaps or inconsistencies in policies and procedures which may impact the credit risk portfolio
- Play lead role in supervising the quality of the credit risk portfolio:
- Provide feedback on analysis, due diligence, credit heath presentation
- Approve credit transactions and risk ratings within authority
- Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio
- Direct the preparation of Portfolio Reviews
- Partner with the Business in developing products, markets, revenue by:
- Advising ITMs of credit risk appetite
- Ensuring we have appropriate tax and legal opinions, and collateral confidence, in new initiatives
- Provide support and cover for the Regional Credit Executive
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, management and business partnership skills
- Good communication skills, spoken and written
- High level of analytical skills, including financial analysis
- Attention to detail and ability to consistently follow Credit Policy
- Ability to analyze credit structures and the attendant credit risks
- Familiarity and expertise with legal documentation
- Ability to understand the business and market context
- Preferred knowledge of integrated wealth management (for example, generational planning structures and solutions, portfolio theory/asset allocation, markets)
- Formal credit training required with experience and familiarity of all risk types: market, liquidity, reputation, operations, complex derivatives, ACH, etc; some workout/problem loan experience preferred
- Ability to interact well with clients, senior colleagues and juniors
- Ability and willingness to coach and train junior Lending Advisors and risk colleagues
- Degree in finance or related field; MBA preferred
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in Banking and 5 years in credit risk, with experience in overseeing a credit portfolio and structuring complex credit transactions, or other related experience.
- Minimum 3 years Commercial Real Estate lending experience.
