The entire game revolves around the Centre Stacks—your collective, shared field of play! These stacks are the monuments to your progress, and you must contribute to them at every opportunity!

• The Ascendant Order: The stacks must be built up in strict numerical order, beginning with the 1 and continuing sequentially up to 12. (Cards beyond 12 or the Queen/King/Ace are often ignored or used as special blocks, depending on the variant.)
• The Goal: By playing cards from your personal draw pile or your available discard piles onto these stacks, you quickly empty your hand, bringing you closer to victory!

• The Wild Rule: The Skip card is wild! You can play a Skip card in place of any number (1 through 12) needed to continue the sequence on a central stack.
