You awaken in the suffocating darkness, a single flickering torch your only companion. Above you, a solid wall of stone looms, a silent promise of an endless tomb. The air is heavy, and the ground beneath your feet offers a chilling reality: you are buried deep underground. Your eyes adjust, and you spot a crude wooden pickaxe—a tool of desperation, a beacon of hope. A single thought crystalizes in your mind: the only way out is to dig straight up.

Welcome to Subterranean Ascension, a game of strategy, progression, and survival. Your mission is to merge pickaxes, collect precious resources, and claw your way back to the surface, layer by grueling layer.

The Two Phases of Survival

The game unfolds in a cycle of two critical phases: Mining and Merging. You'll need to master both to escape the depths.

Mining Phase

Your descent into the earth becomes a race against time and durability. Drag your mouse to control the mining cart, collecting valuable resources that drop from the rock. Each resource you gather earns you money, but your pickaxe is your most vital tool. Higher-level pickaxes not only mine faster but also boast increased durability. When your last pickaxe shatters, you're thrust into the merging phase. Your ultimate goal in this phase is to break through to the next layer, unlocking access to more powerful pickaxes.

Merging Phase

This is where you sharpen your tools for the next journey. Use the money you've earned to buy new pickaxes and powerful upgrades. Drag two pickaxes of the same type together, either in your grid or in the lanes, to merge them into a single, higher-level tool. You can also sell any pickaxe you no longer need by clicking on it and selecting the "sell" option from the text bubble.

Master the Upgrades

To survive, you'll need to strategically invest in upgrades that will give you an edge in the darkness:

• Efficiency: This is your multiplier for mining damage. Each upgrade increases your power, allowing you to break through stone faster.
• Crit Chance: Raise your chances of landing a critical hit, dealing a massive 3x damage with a single swing.
• Lucky Merge: Give yourself a chance to get an even better tool. This upgrade increases your odds of getting a pickaxe that is one level higher than a standard merge.
