    Here, in Europe, specially the commercial fiats, They are economical to use and reliable as well…

  3. Hi Mr. Scotty. True. I did buy a front passenger side (new) axle with cv joints for a 2003 Outback a few years ago and they sent me one for a 2003 Forester which except it is 1/2 longer… This means you cannot reconnect the ball joint because it is just that much too far away to get back into it's mooring. Could not figure out what I was doing wrong until I put the old one next to the new one and measured them. Since I am in Canada and 20 minutes from the border I had it delivered to a wharehouse across the US border to save on the horrendous charges from shipping companies in Canada. So I had to go back across the border to ship it back! Then they sent me the right one! It turns out that in 2003 the Forester went through some changes and the axles were no longer identical to those on the Outback. All in all it took about 3 weeks for me to get the car back on the road. It was still cheaper than buying in Canada. And luckily I have another car to drive around so the experience was not so bad but if you only have one car to drive it is best to buy more locally if possible.

  4. I have a 2011 Ford Focus SE with a 5 spd manual. So far its even better than my last 3 Toyotas. Absolutely nothing has broken or needed to be replaced in 171,000 miles. Driven at 4500 feet, high desert, temps from -20 to 110 degrees. It has original brakes, clutch, and all engine components.

  5. Car Makers, The Dealers and High Dollar repair shops had a meeting and said these back yard mechanics are putting us out of business. We have to do something about it. We'll make the junk we sell nearly impossible to work on….and they Laughed and Laughed…

    with shitty cvt. A dodge caravan cargo is almost more reliable than these last 3 . I dream of a toyota Hiace even if made by Renault.

  7. Since the late 1960s especially with the American manufactures they have been degrading the mechanical and electrical quality. This was done more for profit. They design the vehicles to be reliable for during warranty. As for their computer modules, these are very complex and must be designed to be able to take hot and cold weather conditions. As for lifespan the designers do their best to have the modules last at least 7 to 8 years. These should have reliability for during the warranty period. The manufactures want their customers to buy or lease a new car every 3 to 5 years.

  8. Buicks main market is actually China where they are a premium brand that competes against Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and so on. The envision is a Chinese Buick designed for the Chinese market, and since these are aimed at a higher end of the market in China, they will be actually a lot better than many vehicles from GM in general

  9. Scotty, you never give enough credit to Mazda. The latest models are super reliable over the long term, but also really easy to work on, with straight forward design, and lots of space under the hood!

  10. I have a 2009 Lincoln MKX it currently has 324,000 miles on it, had to replace the transmission around 240,000 miles probably would've lasted longer if I had changed the fluid. Other than that only an alternator, water pump, and radiator that's it. Except for normal stuff like brakes and tires. And she still runs great and AC still blows ice cold air and I've never had anything done to the AC system. People ask me all the time when I'm going to get a new car bc I used get a new car every 3 years like clockwork. But I plan on keeping the Lincoln as long as I possibly can. I sure don't want to go back to paying a car note every month. My point is My Lincoln has been a very reliable car.

  11. 1:30. 3800 v6 engine (GM). Early years they were fine but in the late 90s GM used a plastic intake plenum which melted and leaked water in the engine manifold causing serious damage. What to look for. If the 8th digit on the VIN is the letter “K” run for the door.!!! Earlier 3800 engines from the early 90s used a copper plenum. I had a 1991 Lesabre which used rhe 3800 v6…. Best car I ever owned. Car had well over 250k miles and ran fine.

  12. american car companies (ford, gm, stallantis) can NOT build reliable quality gas cars. why would you hope it will change with EVS ? they will have less components but the few items the cars does have will be VERY expensive and hard to work on in addition to many screens/computers. THE HUMMER AND FORD ARE ALREADY BEING RECALLED wait for Cadillac GM to join the THREE STOOGES OF AMERICAN POOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY

  13. I am with you, we're looking as disposable junk! And for a ridiculous price. We will NOT see any of the newer cars restored like the cars before 1975. One major reason is the electronics. The CPU's in modern cars will die either due to age or mileage. People need to know that these can be rebuilt for a small fraction that the dealer will charge. $180 vs. 1,275. !! I know I just had my car's CPU rebuilt. Came with a 5 yr. warranty vs. 30 days to one yr for a new one. I sold my 1969 Buick Electra to a nice fella that loves it. It was never repaired…. and he hasn't repaired it either. 53 years without a single repair! Youngsters weren't around when all U.S. manufacturers provided a 100,000 mile warranty on their cars. I traded my '68 Mustang GT with 97K miles…. never repaired. It was sold at Barrett- Jackson about 7 years ago for $156K as it was a COPO with a Cobra (Boss) engine, 4 speed, special paint. We won't see this in our future.

  14. Is that bell in Lexington MA ?? I used to get to drive a 2010ish Elan, bone stock MR2 drivetrain, The rest of the car couldn't have weighed more than 500lbs the interior looked like a WW2 fighter, no padding or carpet, just controls and metal, and it was a rocket, out cornered EVERYTHING. totally reliable, except the Lotus parts were $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

  15. 7 years into my Toyota EV: usually charge off of the home solar panels; drive 4-5 days a week for all local trips essentially free; of course this is the routine for a retired person. Zero exhaust, zero fraking/drilling or oil refining/shipping; but not practical for most drivers, AND….what do I do with the batteries/panels after 20 years? Just want to be realistic about the pros/cons. So far….pure gold, but ultimately no free lunch.
